Victory Sports Cleats & Jerseys Arrive in Uganda
Kampala, Uganda, February 1st, 2021
Almost a year to the day after our last shipment of equipment to Uganda, last week the kids at a soccer program in Kampala, Uganda, all received new cleats and jerseys to play in.
Run by our friend Kaku, the Hand of God Soccer Project serves children living in incredibly difficult conditions in Uganda’s capital, Kampala, through soccer and education (for those unaware, ‘Hand of God’ refers to the infamous and controversial moment in the 1986 Soccer World Cup involving legendary Argentinian player, Diego Maradona (RIP). As this is written by an English person, I won’t give it any more coverage but you can Google it).
As you all know, youth sport has been heavily restricted in New York due to the pandemic, so many of our usual channels for getting equipment into kids’ hands have been cut off. It’s therefore even more satisfying to see the smiles our cleats and jerseys produced on the faces of the kids at Kaku’s soccer project. Check out the photos above!
Many of you reading this will have watched your child’s confidence skyrocket when they pull on that new pair of cleats or sneakers, or swing their new baseball bat for the first time. Having the right equipment, and high quality equipment, can make such a difference. That isn’t possible for so many kids out there who love to play sports, so Victory Sports Global Outreach are delighted to have helped out these kids living thousands of miles from Buffalo.
We can always use new donations of cleats, balls, training equipment (cones, nets etc.) to bolster our inventory so we’re able to help as many programs as possible. We have drop-off locations around greater Buffalo so check out your nearest location or contact us on Facebook to learn more.
If you would like to help with purchasing new equipment, shipping overseas, and all our work here in WNY, please consider donating to Victory Sports.
