BOO! Welcome to the Victory Spoooorts Halloween Newsletter!
Fall is always a season of wrapping up our summer projects and getting our partners equipped with what they need to deliver fall sports programs. Clearly this year is unlike any other we’ve been through but we’re busy lining up a winter full of campaigns to make sure we impact as many kids through sport and play as possible.
Along with our regular updates, we’d like to take this opportunity to shine a spotlight on some of our partners in the community and the corporate sector:
-
- We talked to Daniel Robertson from Breaking Barriers – a Boys & Men of Color Initiative, about his work.
- We chatted to one of our corporate partners, CTBK, about why they partnered with us.
- Non-profit Discover 716 believe in “local supporting local” and deploy their interns to organizations like ours. Read Marissa’s article introducing the partnership.
- We’ve finalized plans to distribute 1000 more Play Packs with some VERY exciting partners. Stay tuned!
- We’ve continued filling our network of ball-bins and distributed close to 2000 items.
- We’re thrilled to have Lorenzo Alexander supporting us with the #AthletesRead book distribution program.
- NAPA Auto Parts will be running an equipment drive in November across all their Buffalo stores.

As we approach the end of the year (and quite frankly, good riddance to 2020), we would like to make a quick mention of year-end giving and how important it is for a small non-profit such as ours. As per my comment on 2020, we know it has been an incredibly difficult year but if you are able to give something, we would be so grateful and can assure you it goes straight to our community work. You can click on the buttons below or via this link to contribute. Thank you in advance!
If any businesses reading this are interested in learning about options for partnering with Victory Sports in 2021 and want to factor that in to marketing/CSR plans being put in place now, we’d love to hear from you to explain how you can do some good and get some positive PR from it at the same time.
We might have hoped to be through the pandemic by now and looking forward to a busy schedule of winter sports in school and in the community, but sadly not. That said, we are delighted to see youth sports taking place in some shape or form and we are here to help anyone struggling with equipment or inspiration for how to overcome the challenges this year has presented.
Best wishes,
Doug

Breaking Barriers is part of the Boys and Men of Color Initiative from Say Yes Buffalo, and we caught up with Daniel Robertson, close friend and fellow Project Play WNY partner, to learn about their work and how they’re creating a unified voice to advocate for racial equity, social justice and policy change.
Partners since July, we took a minute to talk to with Buffalo-based accounting firm CTBK about why community partnerships are important to them and why they chose to support our cause. Hear from Kaitlyn Affuso, Marketing Coordinator for Chiampou Travis Besaw & Kershner…
We’re thankful to NAPA Auto Parts Buffalo District for running a sports equipment drive for us in November. Read more about how you can participate and why it’s so efficient for us to have this kind of support.
We’ve worked hard to secure new corporate partners in the last few months, providing us with the financial and in-kind resources we need to continue impacting kids across WNY. Read through our summary of new corporate partners, including Life Storage, Moog, GEICO, Kulback’s and more…
